How to Make Words Dance : A Poetry Workshop In-Person
As part of the library’s observation of poetry month, a poetry writing workshop titled “How to Make Words Dance” will be presented at the Goshen Public Library on April 14 between 6 and 7:30 pm. Participants will complete several exercises focusing on what makes poetry poetic and then will compose a brief text from a prompt. Those who like may read their work aloud at the program’s conclusion. The session is appropriate for all, including those who have never attempted creative writing and published authors.
The workshop will be led by Goshen poet William Seaton whose own most recent collection is Planetary Motions (Giant Steps Press). A familiar figure in the Hudson Valley poetry scene, Seaton conducted workshops for four years for the Northeast Poetry Center’s College of Poetry and produced the Poetry on the Loose Reading/Performance Series for twenty-one years in Middletown, Warwick, and Sugar Loaf. He has been writing and performing for well over fifty years and has read his work widely, including in Nepal, Mexico, Hungary, London, and the Czech Republic. He maintains a mostly literary blog at williamseaton.blogspot.com.
